With so much speculation about the Eagles future, here is the social media reaction as the Eagles finished their season with a 20-14 loss and Doug Pederson caused Twitter to blow up by pulling Jalen Hurts in favor of Nate Sudfeld in the fourth quarter.

Here is the draft scenario for the game.
If Eagles lose tonight, they'll have the 6th pick in the draft. If they win, they'll have the 9th.

Total relaxation for Eagles fans?
Total relaxation for everyone tonight right. We’re all gonna let this Eagles game play out & win or lose we’ll just accept the top 10 pick and go from there.

First half
In the game’s opening series, the Eagles had a fourth-and-2 at midfield and Doug Pederson elected to punt, drawing plenty of second-guessers.
Why punt?
— Les Bowen (@LesBowen) January 4, 2021
The #Eagles are improving their draft pick probability by punting on 4th-and-2 from midfield.
— EJ Smith (@EJSmith94) January 4, 2021
Entering the game, the Football Team was the only team in the NFL that had not scored on an opening drive. That ended when Alex Smith his Terry McLaurin on a 5-yard scoring pass with 4:19 left in the first quarter.

There were a lot of Eagles in the game who are not household names.

Whoever thought there might be sympathy for the Giants?
I can only imagine what was going through Joe Judge's mind when he turned on this game and saw who the Eagles were starting on defense.

Washington then intercepted Jalen Hurts on the next possession.

This three-time Eagles Pro Bowl TE did not draw praise.
Man #Ertz has been a good player, time to move on now, it's evident!! Looks to have shut it down: missed block on one play and can't get off the jam on a 3 step drop!! I'd sit him also!!
— Seth Joyner (@sethjoyner) January 4, 2021
The interception led to a 42-yard Dustin Hopkins field goal, extending the lead to 10-0 with 2:02 left in the first quarter. The Eagles, at this point, weren’t lighting up the stat sheet.
Washington points: 10Eagles yards: 10Draft pick season truly is upon us.

Hurts then led the Eagles on a 10-play, 75-yard drive, capped by his 6-yard scoring run, making it 10-7 with 10:18 left in the first half.

After a key 30-yard reception by Eagles WR JJ Arcega-Whiteside, the wheels were spinning for this Inquirer columnist.
For two years, Carson Wentz's futility has been holding back JJ Arcega-Whiteside's development. Now the world will see what the #Eagles saw when they drafted JJAW. My column:
— Mike Sielski (@MikeSielski) January 4, 2021
Hurts remained on fire and gave the Eagles a 14-10 lead by scrambling for a 6-yard touchdown run with 3:54 left in the first half.

A plea to slow down the scoring
If they don't want to blow the No. 6 pick in the draft, they need to put in Nate Sudfeld immediately.
— Paul Domowitch (@pdomo) January 4, 2021
Brilliant deduction?
I've figured it out. Hurts is trying to screw up draft position to eliminate the possibility of the Eagles drafting a QB.
— Les Bowen (@LesBowen) January 4, 2021
Washington TE Logan Thomas made a sensational leaping 13-yard touchdown reception to give the Football Team a 17-14 lead with 20 seconds left in the first half.

Some interesting halftime Banter.
They are much better off both cap and cash wise moving him than keeping him. Decision is only about his on field upside and willingness to not be a negative locker room guy. https://t.co/3bDQ9ohNGN

Second half
Both teams aren’t generating much offense in the third quarter.
Five minutes without a first down to start the second half. Just the perfect way to send off this season's NFC East.

Finally some action when Eagles safety Marcus Epps makes an interception at the Washington 15.

With fourth-and-goal from the 4, coach Doug Pederson went for it and Hurts threw an incompletion to a wide-open Quez Watkins, allowing Washington to take over with 1:54 left in the third quarter.
A perspective from Washington.
Well, that was a decision by Doug Peterson.
— David Aldridge (@davidaldridgedc) January 4, 2021
A view from The Inquirer’s hockey writer:
#Flyers start season in 10 days. Maybe by then you will have forgotten how awful Doug Pederson has been this season. Maybe. #Eagles
— Sam Carchidi (@BroadStBull) January 4, 2021
More criticism of the Eagles’ coach:
Terrible.. Doug on that decision should understand he reopens the conversation should he come back. That is basic math . Tie game two minutes left in 3rd is where this game should be. Show me Jeff Lurie now
— Dei Lynam (@dlynamCSN) January 4, 2021
An interesting thought:
Analytics says kick the FG, and announcers are blaming analytics for a terrible decision by Doug. They don’t seem to realize Eagles want to lose.
— Joe Banner (@JoeBanner13) January 4, 2021
With 12:53 left in the fourth quarter, and the Eagles trailing, 17-14, Pederson replaced Hurts with Nate Sudfeld.
These players are playing hard! Doug owes it to the players to give them a chance at winning!🤔👀

Sudfeld was intercepted by Jeremy Reaves and Giants fans were beside themselves.
I don’t like the Eagles screwing over the Giants this way, but I respect it.
— Jesse Spector (@jessespector) January 4, 2021
The Eagles got the ball back on an interception by TJ Edwards and he returned it to the Eagles’ 41. Two plays later the Eagles gave the ball right back when Sudfield couldn’t handle a snap and Chase Young picked up the fumble at the Eagles 25.
Here is an honest assessment by a Giants fan
I'm a Giants fan and I have no issue with the Eagles blatantly flushing this game. It's worse for them to win. They should do what's best for them. The Giants shouldn't have lost 10 games if they wanted to makes the playoffs, including an egregious collapse vs Philly.
— By The River (@AndyGlockner) January 4, 2021
Hopkins extended Washington’s lead to 20-14 on a 42-yard field goal.
Some pointed criticism of the Eagles braintrust.
— Sykaos (@JosephStecher) January 4, 2021
The criticism for the Eagles continues.
I watched teams that had nothing to play for be competitive all day - this is embarrassing when it comes to integrity of the game and competition
— Dei Lynam (@dlynamCSN) January 4, 2021
It's not about the Giants. It's about blatantly throwing a game. I have no problem with 'tanking' as an organizational approach, but once the game starts, you're obligated to try to win the game. A man's gotta have a code https://t.co/VLrZ9NcPYj

Either Doug did the right thing for the better draft pick or he’s a complete idiot. Your call.

Doug Pederson has won over a lot of Eagles fans tonight by protecting the No. 6 pick in the draft.

Following the trade of earlier this offseason, most figured the Philadelphia Eagles had settled their quarterback situation.
A second-round pick in 2020, looked darn good in replacing a mistake-prone Wentz as a rookie. Meanwhile, Philadelphia avoided adding real competition for Hurts in free agency — opting to sign backup Joe Flacco to a short-term deal.
This narrative has now given in to suggestions that general manager Howie Roseman and Co. are actually looking for an upgrade. Recently, reports indicated that Philadelphia still had interest in a trade despite the numerous number of sexual assault allegations that have been levied in his direction.
Outside of a shocking trade for Watson, it seems like the Philadelphia Eagles are going to turn to the 2021 NFL Draft for either an upgrade over Hurts or to find some competition. If so, these are their four-best options.

Philadelphia Eagles trade up for a quarterback
It’s an interesting scenario to look at. Philadelphia was involved in what can be considered a three-team trade with the San Francisco 49ers and Miami Dolphins back in March. In said trade, the Eagles moved down from the sixth pick to 12th overall while acquiring a 2022 first-round selection.
Eagles Twitter Reaction
At first glance, this might seem to suggest that Philadelphia has no interest in adding a quarterback in Round 1. That’s especially true with the first-three picks in the 2021 NFL Draft all slated to be signal callers. Even then, there’s a scenario that suggests either or drop come Day 1 of the annual event.
If that were to happen, there’s every reason to believe an always-active Howie Roseman could pull the trigger on a trade up for one of the two quarterbacks. Philadelphia is also said to be high on Fields and Lance, both of whom would likely eventually unseat Hurts as the Eagles’ starter.

The other option here would be for the Eagles to use their second-round selection (37th overall) on . The former Texas A&M quarterback has been ascending the draft board in a big way this spring. In fact, the New England Patriots are apparently infatuated with the possibility of landing him.
Right now, there’s a chance any team looking to draft Mond would have to trade up to the bottom of the first round. This could actually be an ideal scenario in that said team would have a fifth-year option on his rookie contract. Those selected outside of Round 1 are given standard four-year contracts. The question here is whether Philadelphia even thinks Mond would be an upgrade over Hurts. If not, spending a high-round pick on him wouldn’t make much sense.

This seems to be the likeliest scenario for Philadelphia. It already boasts a talented young quarterback. Meanwhile, Flacco could step in should Hurts prove that he’s not yet ready to be a full-time starter. This scenario would include Roseman and Co. looking for a potential mid-round steal.
Stanford’s Davis Mills is now seen as a third-round prospect despite seeing limited time as a starter during his college football career. He’s also a prototypical quarterback prospect, something that has to be taken into account given Roseman’s history. Florida’s and Georgia’s are two other options who could be considered project quarterback prospects in the mid rounds.
